As the MLB trade deadline approaches, the rumor mill is churning with names that could reshape the playoff race. While blockbuster deals are rare, the pressure is mounting on front offices to decide whether to hold onto their franchise players or cash in for a rebuild. The question is simple: which superstars are actually likely to move?
At the top of the list is Mike Trout. The Angels are stuck in neutral, and Trout's contract is massive. But his health is a major question mark, and the no-trade clause gives him all the power. The odds of him wearing a different uniform this summer are low, but the conversation is real.
Then there is Tarik Skubal. The Tigers ace is pitching like a Cy Young winner, and Detroit is not close to contending. He is the most realistic impact arm on the market. If the Tigers get an offer that includes three top prospects, they will have to think hard.
The wild card is Paul Skenes. The Pirates phenom is electric, but moving a rookie with six years of control would be unprecedented. It would take a historic haul, and Pittsburgh seems more likely to build around him than trade him.
Other names like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Luis Robert Jr. are worth watching, but their teams are still clinging to hope. For now, the biggest stars are probably staying put, but the pressure is building.
