Griffin Says He Would Take Baylor Coaching Job If Given the Chance

Robert Griffin III has made it clear he would be interested in coaching Baylor football, saying the decision would already be done if it were up to him.

"If I was making all the decisions, the decision would have already been made," Griffin said.

The former Baylor quarterback, who won the Heisman Trophy with the Bears in 2011, has stayed connected to the program since his playing career ended. His comment adds a new layer to the conversation about the future of Baylor football and who might lead it.

Griffin built his reputation in Waco as one of the most dynamic players in college football history. He threw for 4,293 yards and 37 touchdowns during his Heisman season while also running for 699 yards and 10 scores, leading Baylor to a 10-3 record and a bowl victory.

Since retiring from the NFL, Griffin has worked as a television analyst, keeping him visible around the sport. He has not held a full-time coaching position, which would make a move to the sideline a significant career shift.

Baylor has not indicated any change to its current coaching staff. Griffin's remarks read as an expression of interest rather than a signal that a move is in motion. Still, his ties to the university and his profile in college football make the idea notable whenever the job comes up.

For now, Griffin's statement stands as a public declaration of ambition. Whether Baylor ever acts on it remains an open question.
