Yahoo Sports is moving beyond the NFL with the launch of its first-ever college fantasy football game. The new platform allows fans to draft and manage rosters using real NCAA football players, bringing the popular fantasy format to the college level.
The game will follow a standard weekly lineup structure, where users select starters from their drafted teams and earn points based on player performance in actual college games. Yahoo is offering both public and private league options, giving casual fans and serious college football followers a way to compete.
One key difference from the pro version is how scoring handles the larger pool of college players. Yahoo has adjusted its system to account for the wider range of talent and the variability in competition levels across different conferences. The game also includes live scoring and roster management tools similar to what users expect from the NFL version.
Sign-ups are open now through the Yahoo Sports app and website. The game is free to play, with no entry fees required for standard leagues. Yahoo is also running a promotional period where early registrants can get priority access to league creation and draft scheduling.
This launch marks a significant expansion for Yahoo Sports, which has long dominated the pro fantasy football space. College football has traditionally been harder to model for fantasy due to player turnover and eligibility rules, but Yahoo says it has built a system that handles those challenges. The company expects strong interest, especially during the early weeks of the college season when fan engagement is at its peak.
