One concern about fantasy managers drafting Chase Brown

One concern about fantasy managers drafting Chase Brown

Fantasy football managers are treating Chase Brown like a sure thing this year. Most rankings have him inside the top ten running backs, and plenty of drafts are seeing him go off the board in the second round. The hype makes sense on paper. He took over the Bengals backfield late last season, showed real burst, and caught passes at a high volume. The offense around him is elite, and the team did not bring in serious competition. So why would anyone hesitate?

The concern is not talent. It is workload. Brown has never carried a full NFL season as the lead back. His college career was split, and his pro usage has been limited. The Bengals have not committed to him as a three-down workhorse. They still have other backs on the roster who can take touches, and the coaching staff has shown a willingness to rotate. That is a problem for a player being drafted as a volume monster.

If Brown gets 15 to 18 touches a game, he will be fine. But if the team keeps him around 12 to 14, his ceiling drops fast. His value depends on touchdowns and receptions, and those are harder to predict when the snap share is not locked in. Managers who draft him expecting 20 carries a week might be disappointed. The upside is real, but so is the risk. In a season where injuries and committees ruin top picks, Brown is not as safe as his ranking suggests.
