'I think everyone wants to strive for bigger things'

'I think everyone wants to strive for bigger things'

Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has committed his future to the club by signing a contract extension that will keep him at Elland Road until 2030. The Welsh international believes he represents the "hard-working" people of the city and is eager to lead the team forward.

"I feel like me and Leeds have been a good fit so far," Ampadu said. He highlighted the club's ambition as a key reason for signing the long-term deal, noting that the hierarchy wants to "develop and grow."

Leeds avoided the so-called 'yo-yo' effect last season by staying in the Premier League after earning promotion from the Championship. Ampadu's decision reflects a shared vision with the club's leadership to build sustained success rather than just survive.

The 24-year-old midfielder has become a central figure both on the pitch and in the dressing room since arriving. His extension signals stability for a team looking to establish itself firmly in the top flight. For Ampadu, the connection with the city and its fanbase is personal. "I think everyone wants to strive for bigger things," he said, summing up the mindset that drove him to sign on for the long haul.
