The Philadelphia 76ers staved off elimination on Thursday night, defeating the Boston Celtics 106-93 to even their playoff series at three games apiece. Tyrese Maxey led the charge with 30 points, while Paul George added 23 of his own, combining for 53 points to power the Sixers past a stubborn Boston defense. The win sets up a decisive Game 7 in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Philadelphia came out aggressive from the opening tip, building a double-digit lead in the second quarter and never letting the Celtics fully recover. Maxey was electric, hitting timely three-pointers and attacking the rim with confidence. George provided steady scoring and crucial defensive stops, helping the Sixers maintain control even as Boston made runs in the third quarter. Joel Embiid contributed a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring the paint on both ends.
The Celtics struggled to find consistent offense outside of Jayson Tatum, who finished with 32 points. Jaylen Brown was held to 15 points on inefficient shooting, and the Boston bench was outscored significantly. Turnovers also plagued the Celtics, who gave the ball away 14 times leading to easy Philadelphia points.
With the series now tied, all eyes turn to Saturday's winner-take-all matchup. The 76ers will have home-court advantage and momentum on their side, but the Celtics have shown resilience all season. Game 7 tips off at 8:00 PM Eastern.
